On the 20th of April 1978, during the American leg of the Stage / Isolar II Tour, David Bowie performed in the Cobo Arena in Detroit. During the performance of Ziggy Stardust, he saw some people getting punched by the bouncers that were trying to keep them away from the stage. The fact that Bowie stopped during one of his most famous songs to put an end to this, means that the fighting must have gotten quite violent. In this bootleg recording of the show called Detroit 1978 First Night towards the end of the second minute, Bowie can be heard shouting “HOLD IT! YOU! HOLD IT!” forcing the band to stop playing and “No! That is not necessary! Too many fucking people have been fucking hurt in places like this! Don’t do it! I will not be playing or singing no more man, unless it’s enjoyable!”. The crowd went crazy as expected. Bowie didn’t continue with Ziggy Stardust, but moved on to Suffragette City.
Once again, I left a bit of the song and the recording is much better quality than the last one. Enjoy!
